Who is allowed to attend a Femmes show?
We get this question whenever we announce a new event - Gay Prom, Pop Punk Night, Pride Party, you name it. So, I thought it best to write a quick blog post to clear this up!
Short answer - everyone is welcome to attend.
Long answer:
If you’re on this page, then by now you know that The Femmes are made up of 15 (incredible & amazing) women & nonbinary musicians. We exist because there is a lack of opportunity and space for us in the music scene, and our mission works to uplift women & nonbinary artists, as well as the LGBTQ+ community.
HOWEVER: If you are a person who does not identify as a woman or nonbinary, but you are an ally to us and to the LGBTQ+ community, you are still very much welcome to attend our events! In fact, we encourage it!
Our events are meant to be celebratory of women, queer, trans, BIPOC, and all marginalized communities. If you are someone who is supportive of these communities, then we encourage you to join us in the celebration.
Who is not allowed to attend? People who disagree with our mission, or are not supportive of the communities we aim to uplift.
I hope this is helpful! And, I’ll see you at the next event!
